November to February
With the rains gone, the cool, dry climate sets in. November to February is the best time to visit Andamans in terms of the weather. Without having to worry about the rains or sweltering heat, one can explore the beautiful outdoors. November to February is also great for scuba diving and snorkelling as the water is clear and calm. February is definitely the best month for joining a scuba diving course in Andaman.
March, April, September and October
These are the shoulder months and best if you want to avoid the overwhelming tourists that flock to Andaman during the high season. Intermittent rainfall is pleasant and one can still opt for underwater adventure activities like scuba diving and snorkelling.
May to August
By mid of May, monsoons take over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and it continues till September. Owing to the rough seas during this period, many ferries to the different islands are cancelled or rescheduled. However, if you love the rains, this is one of the best times to visit Andaman. There are practically no tourists and you have near empty beaches. We would suggest not going near the waves as they are quite strong during the rains. Weather permitting, even underwater activities like scuba diving is carried out during these months.
By Air
Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair connects to all major cities in mainland India. It operates all year round. The rest of the islands can be accessed from Port Blair using ferries or in few cases, a helicopter.
